THE LONG ROAD TO FLIN FLON - INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the extraordinary tapestry of a life lived on the long and winding road to Flin Flon. As we embark on this nostalgic journey through the chapters of a unique existence, be prepared for a kaleidoscope of memories that dance across the canvas of time.

This is not your typical autobiography; it's a collection of tales so wild and unpredictable that they could only be true. Each page turned is a step back in time, a leap into the realms of family, sports, music, martial arts, industry, love, and the unexpected embrace of a small Canadian town that gives this odyssey its name.

The story unfurls with the nomadic footsteps of a childhood, a series of moves dictated by the demanding nature of a father's profession. Those early years set the stage for a journey where football became more than just a game. At the tender age of 16, Stevie signed professionally, launching an athletic adventure that would collide with the harsh realities of injury, rejection and the longing for a musical path. The disillusionment that followed became a cornerstone in a life marked by constant change and reinvention.

Music, a timeless companion, weaves its way through the narrative, echoing the melodies of piping traditions handed down from a world champion father. From the stages of Celtic rock 'n' roll with Highlander to the eccentric world of The Kings Of Cheeze, his musical odyssey became a full-time occupation for 12 years. It transcends genres, introducing a cast of characters as vibrant and unpredictable as the stories they inhabit.

Amidst gigs and musical ventures, Stevie Connor found himself immersed in the discipline of Lau Gar Kung Fu under the tutelage of Master Jeremy Yau in the UK. The journey then shifts unexpectedly to the automotive industry, a trajectory from the shop floor to running distribution warehouses in the UK, to the helm of quality control in a Canadian manufacturing plant — a twist of fate that proves the universe indeed has a sense of humour.

As the narrative unfolds, we witness the undulating landscape of relationships — the ups and downs, a failed marriage, and the ultimate meeting with a saviour. Blues and Roots Radio takes centre stage, founded amidst chaos, revealing the challenges faced and overcome. The subsequent creation of the multi award-winning platform, Blues & Roots Radio, Boreal PR and the jewel in the FEA Media group crown, The Sound Café Magazine, becomes a testament to resilience and the ability to turn adversity into opportunity.

Yet,  just when you think the story has laid bare all its twists, a stroke enters the scene — a stark reminder of life's fragility and the resilience required to confront and overcome its challenges. And just when the tale seems to find its resolution, Flin Flon emerges as the unexpected destination, tying together the disparate threads of a life that refuses to conform to any predictable narrative.

So, dear reader, buckle up for The Long Road To Flin Flon, a journey like no other — a crazy, true, and wholly unpredictable adventure through the tapestry of a life well-lived. As we navigate these memories, let nostalgia be our guide through the echoes of the past and the unexpected turns that make this narrative uniquely human.
